Videojet's new ink jet applications

SINGAPORE - Videojet Systems International, Inc. released the Videojet Triumph small character ink jet printer, a complete non-contact, ink jet imaging system that prints a variety of codes and messages in one-, two-, or three-line formats with additional features for custom applications.
The tri-line printing feature in the Videojet Triumph allows for printing consumer or regulatory messages.
"You can change dates, and you can change numbers on reach pack, providing serial numbers if you choose, and keep county on how many packs are produced," said Kimmy Sim, a company spokewoman. "The printing is driven by software, so changes can be made easily."
Videojet's applications in tobacco have been two-fold. In the United States and Australia, applications are mostly for date coding, and batch coding of cigarette packs on the back. In Asia, applications run more towards anti-counterfeiting measures.
"The Chinese application (in tobacco) has been to print in invisible ink," said Sim. "Customers can see the authenticity of the cigarettes when viewed under UV light." In tobacco, Videojet has installations currently in the region in China, Sri Lanka, Singapore (at Rothmans' factory), Taiwan, (at Taiwan Tobacco & Wine Monopoly Bureau factories), and Korea (at KT&G's factories).
