Open House at ITM Asia

Malaysia

ITM Asia presents the latest developments in filter technology and logistics during inspiring one-day events at its new Service Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Following the success of the Open House Event at ITM Poland in 2010, this year from October 17 until October 21, ITM will take its customers to the Filter of Tomorrow in Asia, and beyond.
On each day ITM will explain its high quality regional service and support program and show its entire filter production cycle over several presentations. From the Polaris C, producing charcoal filters with unsurpassed quality, to ITM’s Gemini Filter Rod Handling Platform, and finally to the most versatile and flexible multi segment filter combiner in the world today: the Solaris.

Making its first presence in Asia, ITM’s Solaris offers an extendable filter-making machine with unique capabilities. ITM developed the Solaris to accommodate three main industry requirements that could not be fulfilled until then: flexibility in filter material handling, quick and safe change of filter types and the placing of very small plugs within the combined filter. The Solaris will be on show to demonstrate its unique capabilities in filter combining.
Moreover, at the event ITM invites its clients to discuss their filter demands for the tobacco industry of tomorrow with its European developers and engineers. “In filter making, the sky is the limit,” says Terry Lock, managing director of ITM Asia. “ITM believes filter making is a field where innovations are essential. Tomorrow’s tobacco market demands new types of filters, with specifications that go beyond the capabilities of current equipment. In addition, today’s filter production line requires much more flexibility to meet the demands of this rapidly diversifying market. ITM has a firm reputation to act as an innovative partner to the tobacco industry and at this Open House Event we will show you why. You are invited to join us in stepping on to the next level.”
ITM invites attendees to enhance their creativity on filter technology by visiting the Filter of Tomorrow in Asia.
“Attendance is a must for anyone who wants to witness what real flexibility means in filter combining and discover the fully automatic logistic system for filters,” according to ITM. “Learn how fast and easy size changes can be, get inspiration for new designs and be a part of the future.”
ITM is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of tobacco machinery. With ITM Asia, ITM has settled permanently in the East bringing the highest level of service, maintenance and after sales support to the region, living up to its reputation as a leading innovator with a passion to serve.

Tobacco & Public Health: Time to Move On?

By: Chris Crawley It will surprise some in the public health community, but originally the tobacco industry never intended to harm its customers with a new product: manufactured cigarettes. Why would it? It didn’t occur to the fledgling cigarette business that smoking cigarettes may be harmful. On the contrary when cigarettes were first produced they were considered a great idea. They were smaller, much more convenient and easier to carry than cigars. The packaging was novel. What wasn’t to like? They entirely suited a modern world on the move.
