British American Tobacco (BAT) will be investing €800 million in its Ploiesti factory over the next five years.
Half of this amount will go into a completely new manufacturing hall dedicated to producing Neosticks for glo. This will add another 7,000 sq.m. of production space. The rest of the amount will be invested in increasing the capacity of traditional cigarettes production by 20%.
The Ploiesti factory will be the third in the world, after South Korea and Russia, to produce Neosticks for glo and the first in Europe. The factory is meant to cover all demand for Neosticks in the European market since 85% of the production will be exported.
BAT’s Ploiesti factory is one of the most technologically advanced manufacturing units within the group at a global level, after an investment of almost €310 million since the factory’s establishment almost 20 years ago. With the new production outputs, the Ploiesti factory is set to become one of the five most important BAT manufacturing units in the world.
