The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) discovered and shut down an AU$3 million tobacco-growing operation near Goulburn, seizing and destroying more than 10.3 tons of illicit tobacco, with an excise value of about AU$13.3 million, was seized and destroyed.
ATO officers allegedly located four acres of tobacco crops, four bales of tobacco, a hothouse and three kilns at the Boxers Creek property. ATO said one kiln was turned on and in the process of drying tobacco leaf.
