Solvay Acetow recently held its first filter seminar in Surabaya, Indonesia. Over a two-day period, more than 100 attendees participated in a series of presentations and discussions about the cigarette filter markets and innovation. During the seminar, presentations were given by customer representatives and partners, as well as by employees from Solvay Acetow. Topics spanned tobacco and films to machinery and advances in filtration.
The Indonesian filter seminar has been the third local event since 2015 when Solvay Acetow began to “regionalize” its cigarette filter colloquium. A first local event took place in Dubai in October 2015, a second one followed in Russia in May 2016.
“For more than 30 years, Solvay Acetow has been organizing regularly the colloquium in Freiburg, Germany. It is a highlight of the tobacco industry calendar; it is a fruitful platform for exchanges with customers and partners,” said Vincent Heckel, commercial director Solvay Acetow. “Also, it is a very good place to have a complete overview of the industry and get a vision of the market.”
“Our industry is facing plenty of changes and new responsibilities. Therefore, it is very important to discuss new strategies for dealing with this changing environment. Customers are asking us for more innovative products and new solutions.”
In order to bring innovations to the market, Solvay Acetow recognizes that it must be in constant dialogue with its customers and partners, working with them to understand their needs.
“Indonesia is a very dynamic and active market, combining large size and favorable growth pattern. Also, it is a unique market thanks to the Kretek signature,” says Nicolas Castet, key account director Solvay Acetow, based in Singapore. “A local event like the filter seminar enables us to focus on precise topics, which are of particular interest for such and such region.”
“The Indonesian filter seminar was well received by the participants; during and after the event I received the following feedback: the event has been a ‘breakthrough’ and it was the first time such an event is organized in Indonesia.”
