KT 2 Upgrade

Hauni is offering an upgrade for its KT 2 tobacco cutter – a trusty servant in countless primary plants around the world for many years. It encompasses all the functionalities of the new KT 3 and has already achieved outstanding results in practical applications.

The upgrade principally comprises a new cutter head including the new grinding and knife advance unit. These new functions are automated via an upgrade to the switch cabinet and single drives. They generate significant and measurable improvements including up to a tenfold increase in knife service life, greater cutting accuracy and product quality, faster replacement of worn components and therefore higher machine availability, less dust generation, and lower levels of unwanted grinding products in the tobacco. Real-world applications using “KT 2up” have demonstrated the material and cost savings that can be achieved, as well as improvements in areas of tobacco quality such as filling power. Featuring a wide range of new subassemblies, the upgrade effectively converts the KT 2 into a KT 3 at an attractive price.

Hauni’s specialists create a made-to-measure package that takes into account the age and condition of the machine and the customer’s wishes. For example, they can also select options such as an overhaul of other areas of the machine. The upgrade can be performed in situ. It is not necessary to remove the machine from the production line or transfer it to one of the customer’s workshops. However, it is possible to have the KT 2 converted in one of Hauni’s facilities around the world or at Hauni Hungaria, where the tobacco cutters are also built. Here, all the parts outside the cutter head and the switch cabinet can be serviced at the same time. Please note: This can also be done on the customer’s premises. The upgrade guarantees the top results that Hauni’s customers are continuously striving to achieve – in real-world applications.

The KT 2 upgrade solves another familiar daily production problem; suppliers of electronic parts often discontinue older components. Consequently, it is no longer possible to guarantee supplies of all spare parts for older machines without more extensive and expensive conversions.

The “KT 2up” upgrade solves this problem at a single stroke.
