New Addition to FLEXPORT Line
Hauni’s FLEXPORT line now offers four modules
GERMANY
The latest addition to the Flexport family is the CI module for capsule insertion. The platform now offers a total of four modules for flexible filter design.
Filters play a key role in defining the flavor, appearance, performance, and feel of cigarettes. They are responsible for a constantly growing range of characteristics and the trend shows no signs of stopping. “Customers have enthusiastically welcomed the Flexport platform for flexible filter design that we launched in 2013,” reports Arne Klisch, product consultant engineering. “The platform can be integrated into the KDF 5 and KDF 6Lead filter makers. It is based on a modular concept in which a base port is placed between the tow processor and the rod maker. The concept provides universal interfaces that make it possible to integrate function modules for producing special filters.”
At the moment, the Flexport system features four modules that answer the need for maximum flexibility in handling the increasingly complex range of filter specifications. As well as the existing modules for granulate application, channel ventilation, and thread application, the CI module now enables manufacturers to insert up to 24,000 capsules per minute. The additional acceleration option guarantees the filter rod speed (in meters) at a higher capsule insertion rate. “The CI module is an enhanced version of the familiar Hauni capsule inserter HCI) and allows manufacturers to create entirely new flavor experiences for their products quickly and easily using aroma capsules,” said Klisch. “These fragile capsules can be tricky to handle in filter production, so we made precision and reliable output the top priorities when designing the module.”
The Flexport system and capsule inserter module can also be retrofitted to Hauni makers KDF 5 and KDF 6Lead. It offers the advantages one would expect from the Flexport platform in terms of fast changeovers during the production of special filters. As well as effectively future proofing the customer investments, the system – as the name suggests – also supplies the outstanding flexibility required to secure the viability of today’s and tomorrow’s filter cigarette production facilities.
“With the Flexport system, we not only offer our customers a broad spectrum of production options through our current range of four modules,” said Klisch. “We are constantly adding new modules to our portfolio. Moreover, with Flexport we have an ideal platform for developing and implementing special customer specific projects.”
