India’s Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) approved a proposal to prohibit the manufacture, sale, distribution, and import of all electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) like e-cigarettes, e-shisha, and vape.
DTAB cited potential risk to public health, mainly non-smokers, as the reason for the ban. The ban could put up roadblocks preventing companies from selling ENDS products in India. The proposal is up for final approval from the health minister.
