Bullion Leaf Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd, has said that it will contract farmers that did not benefit under the company’s input support scheme to sell in Bullion’s auction floors. The company also said that high quality and sheer volumes of tobacco are expected at this year’s auction.
Bullion Leaf Zimbabwe managing director, Persistence Gwanyanya, said, “This year because we have got a contract sales license, we are going to do what is called contract sales. Those farmers that did not benefit under our input support schemes would be contracted to sell in our auction floors.”
The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has since licensed 38 buyers so far compared to 32 last year ahead of the marketing season expected to kickstart at the end of August 2019.
